What Are They?

You may want to hand out an instruction sheet to your students or other OWL users the first time that they use the OWL system. We have created two handouts for you to use. The first is for student (question, question pool, exam) mode modules and the second is for training mode modules. Both are word documents that you can download below and edit as desired to fit your specific needs and circumstances. Note that on both you must substitute [insert student/user URL] with the appropriate URL to access the OWL system at your site.

Instructions for Use of the Symbol Font in OWL

For some questions in OWL, authors may want to display special characters such as Greek letters. This can be accomplished by using the <font face="symbol">[letter]</font> html codes. If OWL texexp()'s are being used to display math expressions, they too use the symbol font. If any of the questions in your database require the use of this font, you'll want to include the following directions as part of your handouts. Simply download the document below and add it to one of the previous handouts. Alternatively, you can simply point your students to the web address for the Web Page Display link below.
