First Time Pages

The first time that you log into the OWL system, you will see a series of pages that you won’t see on subsequent logins.

OWL’s first time login pages:

1.    The first page that you’ll see is the Welcome to OWL page. It contains guidelines for working within the OWL system. Read the information carefully, and then click the CONTINUE button.

2.    Next, the Student’s Personal Information page appears. Supply or edit, if necessary, your E-mail and Phone. They are not required, but will enable you to be contacted about your message submissions or other problems. If you’d like, you can also change your password. When you are done, click the Save and Continue button. You’ll be able to update your student information at any time by simply clicking on the Contact Info button on the menu bar.

3.    The Course Menu page will appear. Check the course name, section, instructor, location and time. If the correct course and section are not listed, you may need to add/switch a class. If you find the correct course and section, click on the Course Name link to proceed.

4.    OWL may bring you to the Course Notes page. Each time you log into OWL, any new announcements from your instructor will appear. If the announcements have not changed since the last time you logged in, they will not be automatically displayed to you. You can always choose to read the course notes on your own. When you are done reading the course notes, click the View Assignments button to continue.

5.    Next you’ll see the Course Assignments page. This is the first page that you’ll normally see when you log in. From here you can access any of the assignments in your course. If your instructor has supplied a tutorial assignment, be sure to complete it before you attempt your first real assignment. It will teach you how OWL works, how to answer questions, how to navigate, etc.
