Self-Rostering

Occasionally (and this is really quite rare) an instructor will set-up an OWL course section to allow for self-rostering. In this case, the instructor probably will not roster anyone before the course begins. It is assumed that students will roster themselves.

There is no way to tell from a list of OWL courses and sections which ones are set for self-roster and which ones are not. You simply choose the login request or add/switch class request as you would for any OWL course. If the section that you choose is set for self-rostering, the process will vary slightly from that of a normal section. In the end, you will be automatically rostered and will not have to wait for an administrator to take care of your request.

If you cannot log in to OWL and you choose login request, you’ll be able to tell that the section is self-rostered when you get to the Request Login page that asks for your user information. In addition to the regular name, student number, email, and phone, you will also be asked to enter a Login and Password. Your login needs to be unique so you may not be able to use your first choice. The system will prompt you if there is a problem.
