Assignment Type: Exam

Exam type assignments are similar to Question type assignments. The Unit Menu page has the same structure, and you navigate through the assignment in the same way. Your grade is based on the number of questions that you answer correctly. For short answer questions with multiple parts, it may be that your instructor decides to give partial credit for getting some, but not all parts correct. Otherwise, you’ll have to get all the parts right to get the question marked as correct. (There will be no way to tell how you are being graded until you see your scores after the due date.)

But as the name implies, it is similar to an Exam that you would take in class. You only get ONE attempt at each question. Thus, once you have pressed the CHECK ANSWER button on a question page, you are done with that question. In other types of assignments, after you have used up your attempts, you can try again for practice. For Exams there is NO practice. If you navigate back to the question, you won’t even see the question itself.

Also unlike other types of assignments, when you submit an answer to a question, you are not told if you have gotten the question right or wrong. You are not shown the answer to the question, and there is no feedback. On the Course Assignments and Unit Menu pages you are also not shown your grade.

After the due date, though, Exams are like regular Question type assignment. Your grade for the work you did before the due date is displayed. You can also try the questions again, and your score and correct answers will be shown.
