Assignment Type: Training

Training type assignments are conceptually different than regular assignments. In a Training, instead of completing your work by the due date, you are completing work to receive a certification in a topic. Once the certification is received, it is usually good for a year before you have to re-certify.

The Course Assignments page lists Trainings separately from other assignments. Any available trainings in your course will be listed under the heading Current Trainings. For each training, you’ll see your Status (complete, incomplete, or unstarted), and your Certification Expiration date and link to Get/View Certification if the training has been completed.

Trainings are structured and graded just like QuestionPool type assignments. You work on one unit at a time, questions in the unit may be pulled from a pool, you must master the required number of questions in one attempt at the unit, and you must master all of the units in the training. The number of attempts is never limited in a training.

The Unit Menu page displays the same Status, Expiration Date, and Get/View Certificate (if applicable) information that is found on the Course Assignments page for the training. It also shows the number of days your work will be saved. You can complete one unit at a time on different days to gain certification in a training just like you can work on other assignments at various times. But for a training, your work is only saved for a limited amount of time. The table on the Unit Menu page will show each unit in the training, its status, and the date that it was last completed.

Trainings have a different interface and navigation than the other types of assignments. On the content, question, and answer pages, the status bar and the menu bar have been combined into one and appear on the left-hand side of the page. In general to simplify the navigation, you only need to click on the available gray button to move forward through the training. You will first be presented with the content pages and then each question. When you’ve come to the end of a unit, the gray button will, appropriately, either let you move on to the next unit or repeat the unit if you have not mastered it. At the top of a question or answer page, you are told how many questions you need to get right to master the unit. A handful of other buttons is also available at the left to exit, send a message, or get help.
