Often an instructor will allow you to work on your assignment over and over again as many times as you want. Any of this work done before the due date can only improve your grade. Yet, it may be that your instructor has decided to limit the number of times you can work on your assignment before the due date. Exactly how your attempts are limited depends on the type of assignment.
Question – the number of times you may repeat an individual question
QuestionPool – the number of times you may repeat a unit
Exam – always set to one attempt per question
Training – attempts at each unit are always unlimited
Survey – the number of times you may submit the survey responses
Tutor – the number of times you may enter the tutor
External – the number of times you may enter the external activity
When you’ve run out of attempts, you will still be able to try the pieces of the assignment whose attempts you’ve exceeded (except for exam type assignments). This is true both before and after the assignment’s due date. But just like work done after the due date, any work done after the number of attempts has been exceeded is PRACTICE only. Even though you’ll see your practice scores on the Unit Menu, question and answer pages, your grade on the assignment overall will NOT change. The grade that counts is the one that you get before your attempts have been exceeded, and it is always listed on the Course Assignments page.
Note: For QuestionPool type assignments, attempts are based on the unit. Make sure to read all information and directions so that you do not use up your attempts inadvertently.
