When you select an assignment from the Course Assignments page, you’ll be presented with the Unit Menu page for that assignment. The top of the page displays the assignment’s name followed by it type. The contents of the page will vary somewhat depending on the type of assignment.
Underneath the assignment’s name and type will be listed the due date and due date status (either Not Yet Due or Past Due). If you have been given an extension on the assignment, the extension date will be displayed. The third line will give you general information about your overall grade on the assignment. The value next to Your Grade: should match the value found on the Course Assignments page. To understand exactly how an assignment is graded, make sure to read the information about the appropriate assignment type.
Each Unit Menu page contains a table listing the assignment’s part(s). The exact structure of this table again depends on the assignment type. In general, to begin work on an assignment, click on the first underlined link in either the Unit or Content/Question columns. When you have started work on an assignment, you can return to this page by selecting the Unit Menu button from the menu bar on the left.
Once an assignment is past due, the information in the table on this page is expanded. There will be a column for Your Grade as well as a column for Best Score. The former contains the grade that you received on the assignment for work done after the due date. The latter contains your best score overall including any practice work that you’ve done after the due date.
For assignments whose attempts have been limited, the information in the table is also expanded. Just above the table will be displayed the number of attempts that you are allowed. A new column in the table, Number of Attempts Left, will show you how many more attempts you can make on the item.
Note: For QuestionPool type assignments, attempts are based on the unit. Make sure to read all information and directions so that you do not use up your attempts inadvertently.
A check mark in the table indicates that the item was done successfully and counts toward your grade; a check minus
indicates that the item was done successfully but after the due date or after the number of attempts permitted.
