Overview of Assignment Types

There are a number of different types of assignments in OWL. The Unit Menu page displays the assignment’s type. It is important to know what the assignment’s type is because it affects many aspects of your work on the assignment.

The type affects:

·    the information displayed on the Unit Menu

·    what the contents of the assignment are

·    how you navigate to and through the assignment

·    how the assignment is graded

·    how limited attempts are handled

·    what happens after the due date

To understand these issues, read the information for your assignment’s type:

·    Question

·    QuestionPool

·    Exam

·    Training

·    Survey

·    Tutor

·    External

The first 4 types all work on a standard model of answering one question at a time. Content may or may not be presented and then you answer questions. The other 3 types each have their own unique structure and use.
